Cruise holiday March 2011?
When to book? Now with so called balcony cabin offers or nearer the time.
I am looking to go on a Royal Caribbean Cruise in March 2011
Normally the earlier you book the better price you get because prices do go up as the sail date approaches. And the earlier you book the better choice of cabins you have. An early booking would be one that is a year or more in advance. If you are thinking March 2011 you don’t really need to make a booking until about March 2010 and most cruise lines will not even have their cruises and prices listed on their web sites until about 12 to 18 months before the cruise. So you probably cannot even book for 2011 until maybe the end of this year (2009).
You can reserve a cruise by booking on line; by calling the cruise line, or through a Travel Agent. You will pay at booking the minimum deposit which will be about $250 per person for a 7 day cruise. The minimum will be more for a longer cruise, for example $450 per person for a 14 day cruise. The balance will be due approximately 60 days before the cruise departure date. But you can make periodic payment on line or with the cruise line. I have reserved on line and made payments many times.
Cruise lines do have specials and RC lists theirs as “hot deals”. So if you see one of these and you know its a good price then do book it. Remember that if you book early and then see a better deal you can cancel and get a full refund up to about 65 days before the cruise.
